Yay, another day where I didn't go out anywhere. I was alone at home until 3pm, because my mother and father went with my brother and sister to Toa Payoh. So I was just studying for about 3hrs, then I went to play some games. I was supposed to have tuition at 3.30pm, but it was cancelled.
After that I spent the entire afternoon playing my guitar. Since both the e and b strings are broken, my guitar sounded awfully dull. I think I know how to strum along to "Sleeping with the Light On" by Busted. I also tried to do "Paradise City" by Guns n Roses, but that's a little difficult. Tried out some Good Charlotte songs, realised that they were too easy, and was reminded why I don't bother listening to them.
I'm now trying to draw Ichigo [with his mask] from Bleach. I'm halfway done, but I don't think it'll turn out that nice, because it looks really plain. I want to shade it, but I dunno how to :( I'm afraid I'll ruin the picture if I try to shade it. After I'm done with that I'm gonna try to draw either all the Vaizards, all the Captains or all the Espadas from Bleach. Yay.
But at least something awesome happened. I spent a lot of time on gametrailers.com forums today, because there was a live chat session with Peter Molyneux [Fable 2 lead designer] and Emil Pagliarulo [Fallout 3 lead designer]. Mr.Molyneux and Mr.Pagliarulo were having a question and answer session with everyone else. Later on some one asked Mr.Molyneux how we could get into the game industry. He said that it won't be easy. He had actually been dreaming about creating a game like Fable since he was a teen.
I told him that not only am I dreaming on making a videogame, I have also started typing out the story of the game. At first he didn't reply me, then this is exactly what he said: "That's interesting. It seems that you might actually have a head start there. Keep working on it. Hopefully you'll be able to get in, and maybe I will meet you one day." I'm not kidding, that's a direct quote of what he said.
Ok, I've decided. Since I have been blessed by the power of a game industry god, I will make this game. It'll be the first game from a Singaporean that isn't total bullshit. Yeah!! It'd be awesome to make a AAA game and get rich. I'm not gonna be discouraged by anyone because one day I'm probably gonna drive past their Toyota in my Lamborghini. Yeah, I might be dreaming now, but everything starts with a dream! I feel so confident now!! Yeah.
Top 10!! Yeah I've decided to this for fun. This time it's gonna be my most anticipated games for what is left of 2008. Let's begin.
Top 10 Most Anticipated Games 2008
10) Spider-Man: Web of Shadows Ever since Spider-Man entered the gaming world, no one has really taken his games seriously. Sure, every once in a while, an amazing Spider-Man game like Spider-Man 2 will be out, for every good Spidey game that is developed, there are 5 so-so ones. So, when I tell you that Spider-Man: Web of Shadows is actually considered a AAA game, you know it's special. In the game, players control Spider-Man, with full access to the classic suit and the symbiont suit. Each has it's own set of moves and the outcome of the game ultimately depends on which suit the player prefers to use.
A symbiont-like alien race has taken over New York, and it's up to Spidey to stop them. Along the way, Spider-Man will gain allies as he help other heroes in trouble. These allies will help Spidey in the final battle. The combat system has been completely revamped, so that Spider-Man will actually fight like we all envision Spider-Man to be able to.

At least this game has a respectable looking Venom, unlike Spider-Man 3's anorexic Venom.
9)Left 4 Dead Ok, I'll admit, I wasn't interested in this game at all until recently. Sure, it has Valve, creators of the legendary Half-Life series, working on it, but it seemed kinda weak when I first saw it. I just looked like on of those games where all you do is keep shooting at an endless horde of enemies.
Now, it's still the same thing, but it has got me excited about it. Firstly, it is the first game to really emphasize working as a team. Sure, there are countless games out there offering 4 player co-op play, but this one has friendly fire turned on, you share ammo among your team, and your team mates are the only ones who'll save you when you're low on health as there is no respawns.
The AI in this game is possibly the smartest ever created so far. It actually writes new AI scripts as you play the game. There is no difficulty settings in this game. It starts of on an average difficulty, and if you can't handle that, the AI will lower the difficulty. If average difficulty is not a problem to you, the AI will create tougher enemies. As you skill improves, so does the difficulty of the game. It's almost as if you are playing the game against on of the human developers.

Work as a team, or you won't survive this game.
8)Far Cry 2 This game looks freakin gorgeous [it is from Crytek, developers of Crysis, after all]. I never played any pervious Far Cry games, but this game takes place in the African savannah, and it focuses heavily on realistic game play. If you keep using a gun throughout the game, the weapon will eventually get worn out and start to jam. Use it some more and it explodes in your hands. Vehicles also handle the same way, over use them and they stop working.
When entering different positions in a vehicle, there are actually animations of your character moving around the vehicle. The camera doesn't just teleport to that position. Injuries are also a big part of the game. Minor injuries can be healed by injecting yourself with drugs, but critical damage requires you to perform emergency first aid. This can be anything from a removing a piece of sharpnel from your leg, or relocating a dislocated arm.
The map editor in this game is also ridiculously awesome. It is so huge that you actually create your own mountains and jungles and stuff. There are thousands of objects available in the editor and it was designed to be as convientient on consoles as it would be on a PC.

CryEngine explosions never cease to impress
7)Call of Duty: World at War The fifth installment of the inssnely popular Call of Duty series. The series became wildly popular after Infinity Ward's excellent Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare last year. This time, Infinity Ward isn't working on the game, so 'm being cautious by putting it at number 7.
When it was revealed that Call of Duty: WaW would be returning back to WWII setting, there was a massive uproar among the gaming community. Many people, myself included, felt that modern warfare was the way the series should be heading, as the WWII genre has been used so much that it has become abused.
However, in the recent months, my opinion of the game changed. Firstly, it would be the first COD game doing 2 player local co-op, and 4 player online co-op. That's just awesome. Next, the battles are now huge, epic fights that are extremely intense. Thirdly, it's the most realistic war time experience ina video game so far. Not only will players witness the dropping of the two Atom bombs onto the Japanese cities, they'll also hear their various freinds drop F-bombs throughout the game.
The violence is also plentiful in this game, with a scence in the trailers showing a Japanese officer pushing the lighted end of a cigarette into a capture soldier's eye during an interrogation session. OUCH. Lastly, the flamethrower is a total beast. Nothing can survive it. Will be awesome to use.

Rain. Explosions. Gloomy sky. Maybe they're over doing it.
6)Guitar Hero: World Tour I've always been a fan of the guitar hero series, but when Rock Band came out, I lost interest in GH. How couldn't I? Rock Band offered everything Guitar Hero had, but Rock Band had drums and vocals too.
But now, Guitar Hero World Tour comes with drums and vocals too. At first I wasn't sure. Should I just get Rock Band, or wait for Guitar Hero WT? Then, as Activison revealed more and more about their new game, I realised how much better GH:WT actually was. There are much better instruments, a better, larger setlist full of original songs [no covers] and there is GHmix, which is a feature that allows you to create and share your own songs.
So, after all that, I'd say screw you to Rock Band, and apologize to Guitar Hero for not bothering about it for a period of time.

Hopefully it isn't as easy as the picture above, if not it wouldn't be any fun at all...
5)Saints Row 2 If Grand Theft Auto 4 was able to raise so much controversy among people, in wonder the reactions people will have to this game. This game is basically GTA on steriods. It is funny, violent and crazy. In GTA, the worst thing you could do was to bang a hooker, then beat her to death with a baseball bat and take back all the cash you paid her. In Saints Row 2, you can do the same, but why use a bat to kill her when you've got a chainsaw, sledgehammer or katana? It's gonna be a very controversial game.
You are a member of a gang called The Saints, and the game takes place in Stillwater, a fictional city. In the original Saints Row, you fought against odds to help The Saints own Stillwater. However, in SR2, three rival gangs, the Brotherhood, the Sons of Samedi and the Ronin, threaten to overthrow the Saints for dominance of Stillwater. The tension between the 4 gangs eventually lead to a full scale gang war. There's a lot I'd like to say about this game, but this trailer pretty much sums everything up.

4)Mirror's Edge When we first heard about the idea of this game, everyone in the gaming community got excited. First person parkour? That was like a breath of fresh air for us. For years game developers have been whoring the shooter genre, so anything new and unique was welcome.
But we did no get any actual gameplay footage for a few months, so people started doubting it. Then, when gameplay was revealed, almost everyone was blown away. The game looked bueatiful, and moved at a fluid pace. The controls look tight, and the audio is top notch.
Mirror's Edge takes place in the future, where most countries are controled by a large corporation. This corporation monitor everything. People do not have any freedom. However, a small group of rebels have developed, and the main character, Faith, is one of them. These rebels are free runner who deliver messages. However, as they cannot travel around in a normal way without getting arrested by cops, they take to the rooftops of the city and use parkour to get around.
When Faith's sister, another free runner, gets captured, Faith goes on a mission to rescue her sister, and to take down the corporation once and for all.

3)Fable 2 This is the game being developed by Mr.Molyneux, who I was talking about above. This game is a AAA exclusive Xbox 360. It has been in development ever since the original Fable was released.
Fable 2 improves on Fable in everyway possible. Now, there is a new one button combat system, where tapping a single button at the correct time allows your character to perform a sweet looking finisher. Players also have a companion in the game, and this companion comes in the form of a dog. The player gets it when their character is just a kid in the game, and the dog grows up with you. Not only does the dog help in combat, it also points out hidden items to you, and when you are knocked unconcious [you can't die in this game], the dog will head to the nearest village and get help for you.
In the original Fable, swords, arrows and magic were available. In Fable 2, it remains the same, with the addition of fire arms like pistols and shotguns. The game world is now roughly 3 times bigger, and there is not only a day and night cycle, but real time weather. I'm not too sure about the story of this game, but I'm eager to find out.

2)Gears of War 2 This game is the sequel to the critically acclaimed Xbox 360 game Gears of War. When the original Gears came out back in 2006, everyone was impressed. Never had anyone imagined to see such graphics. In 2006, its graphics were more advanced that any game on the consoles or PCs.
Now, Gears of War 2 is about to be released, and while the graphis don't have as much impact as before, it still looks better than the original Gears. Gameplay wise, the game has been tremendously improved. The cover system has been revamped, and now there are movable covers, like human shields and deployable shields. New weapons have been added to the mix, like a burst pistol that fires 6 shots a second and a beast of a flamethrower. The violence is also much more that the first game, but buckets of blood being spilled in every match.
There are more vehicles this time round, including some Locust vehicles like Reavers and [HELL YEAH] Burmaks. The story of Gears 2 is a more emotional one. Human has its back against the wall as the Locust are slowly but surely entering Jacinto, the final human city left standing. This time, instead of waiting for the Locust to attack, the humans are making the first move by drilling underground into the Locust nests.
Players once again control Marcus Fenix, sergeant of Delta Squad. Dom is also back, and his looking for his wife, who he doesn't know is dead or alive. Cole "The Cole Train" is also back, along with his partner Baird. Two new character join Delta squad, a cowboy hat wearing Stranded called Dizzy, and a spiritual warrior called Taj.
The collectors edition of Gears 2 comes with a life size Lancer[the chainsaw gun] replica, as well as the standard edition of the game and a behind the scenes DVD. The bundle can be upgaraded from the standard edition to the limited edition for a few extra dollars.

DAMN: When awesome graphics bite you in the ass.
1)Fallout 3 Yeas, you probably guessed this if you read my previous thread about Fallout 3. This game looks awesome in every aspect. The graphics are great. The controls are great. The music is great. The voice acting is great. The gameplay is great. The story is great. Put that al together and you get one GREAT game!!
Fall out 3 takes place in the future, after the entire world is destroyed by nuclear warfare. Before the bombs fell, many people started living in underground Vaults, the only places which were deemed safe from the radiation the bombs would produce. All those that could afford it would get a place in the Vault, and those who couldn't were left to die.
The game begins in one of the Vaults, Vault 101. Players are able to decide the gender of their character, and how they would like their character to look. After selecting their preferences, the character's mother will give birth to the character, and the surgeon will remove his surgical mask to reveal a face similar to the one the player set for their own character, as the surgeon is the father.
As the character gets older, his father exits the Vault, and doesn't return. The player then goes on a quest to find out what happened to his father. He encounters various other people in the outside world, and also finds out that some people have been mutated by the radiation. He needs to use whatever he can find to survive. This game also has a dog companion, like Fable 2, but it is not known what the dog can do. For more Fallout 3 videos and stuff, check out my earlier about the game.
