Hello. Firstly, I have to say this. Happy Halloween to all the Americans I know, and to all the people who care. Ok, now I'll continue. I woke up early today because I had Chinese tuition. My sister had Chinese tuition too, so we took a train together to Toa Payoh. After tuition, my father sent us home.

Once I reached home, I ate lunch, then I played Spider-Man:Web of Shadows. I've been playing the game for quite a while now, and I like it. The game starts off slow, but thing start getting faster after Act 1 is complete. Right now I'm about 1/3 through the game, and I've just beat Vulture.

I'm a little disappointed at the roster of guest heroes though. I was expecting Captain America, Iron Man, Thor and the Hulk. Maybe they'll be in Web of Shadows 2.

Anyways, the game is really generous with the Achievement points. After playing Saint's Row 2 for 20 hours, I only got 100 Achievement points from it, but after spending 3 hours on Web of Shadows, I have about 200 points. I love games like that.

Here's an Opening and First 10 Minutes video of the game. I actually got 3 Achievements within the video:
Spider-Man: Web of Shadows Opening and First 10 Minutes

After that I went to IMM with my family. Fallout 3 is [finally!] out in Singapore today, and I went to collect my copy from Challenger. Then we ate dinner and I bought sushi and then we went home.

I started typing this post as soon as I got home [and ate my sushi], and maybe I'll play Fallout 3 throughout the night. I don't really have anything on tomorrow anyways.

The Chinese characters spoil the box art, but I don't really mind. It's what's inside the box that matters.Man, this one has more content warning than Fable 2.Random photo of my sushi. I really liked them.

Yeah, I guess that's pretty much all I have to say. I'll upload the opening and first 10 minutes video of Fallout 3 tomorrow if everything goes as planned, and I'll also be doing something special tomorrow. Ok, ending off, see you tomorrow.

Hello. We had our Maths Paper 2 today. It was average. Definitely easier than our school paper, but it's difficult for O level standards. I didn't manage to finish to last question. Not too sure about Maths now. But it's alright, I'll just have to get As for everything else.

Today is the first day since the start of the O levels that I went home myself. My father was on leave the past few days, so he was fetching me after every paper. I checked out Comics Connection at Tiong Bahru Plaza, and I found out that Spider-Man: Web of Shadows is finally out on the Xbox 360, so I'm going to buy it later.

I also found out that Fallout 3 isn't out in Comics Connection either and it's official launch is tomorrow. So I have to apologize to Challenger for looking down on them. But their customer service sucks anyway, so I still don't like them.

My father will be taking me to IMM Jurong tomorrow night to collect my game. Damn, I hate waiting. Especially since so many other people are already enjoying the awesome game.

I signed into my Xbox Live account today after a really long time, and I downloaded the Endwar demo. The Tomb Raider: Underworld demo and the Banjo Kazooie demo are already up, and the Mirror's Edge demo drops on Saturday.

Anyways, I tried out the Endwar demo, and it is good. That's coming from me, a person who hates Real Time Strategy. The voice control is much better than I expected. I originally thought that it would only register Caucasian voices, but it can do so much more. I experimented with several different accents, and it actually manage to register everything, even when I used a heavy Indian accent. Colour me impressed.

This is the first strategy game I've played that didn't give me a headache. The combat is well paced enough to actually plan my next move, and simple commands like "Unit 2 attack Hostile 4" and "Unit 4 secure Bravo" allow you to control your entire army. The game hardly uses controller input, so it works just as well on the consoles as it would on a PC [Unless you decide to be stupid and try to use the controller to play the game].

Ok, now I have to stop typing for a while because I'm going to Tiong Bahru Plaza. I'll be back.

Ok, now I'm back. I have Spider-Man: Web of Shadows. Finally. I'm about to end this post now because I want to watch Ben 10, Avatar, play Spider-Man: Web of Shadows, then I'm going to watch Ugly Betty. I love Okto. I didn't even watch much TV until the creation of that channel.Opening and First 10 Minutes video of Spider-Man: Web of Shadows coming tomorrow.

We have no exam tomorrow, and all the screwed up papers [Maths, Science] are over, so we can slack even more. Ok, ending off, see you tomorrow.

Hello. We have the Sc[Physics] paper later on at 2pm, so I decided to do an early post today. I just want to get over the Physics paper faster so that we can complete Combined Science. Anyways, even if I fail this paper, I think I'll still manage to get a B4 for the combined mark. Since Chemistry was easy. But of course I'm not going to fail it. No wonder our school always has like 80%-90% distinction for Chem/Phy O level.

I decided to invite people over to my house after the O levels. Anyone can come, but I think I can only call a maximum of 10 friends. We'll cater food. Hopefully some one can bring their Xbox as well, and hopefully we can get 4 controllers for each Xbox. Then we can have system link 8 player matches. There will also be Guitar Hero: World Tour and [possibly] Rock Band.

I'm not sure if my sister's friends will be coming as well. It might be on the same day, or it might be on two different days. They're coming to play Guitar Hero. Girls love that game. My sister even asked me to train her with my god like virtual guitar skills so that she can beat her friends.

Speaking of that, some people owe me a Face Off in Guitar Hero *cough*Yan Ming*cough* Remember the deal? Loser must do what? Muahahaha. It's going to be so unfair to the challenger that I almost feel bad. Well, you are the one who wanted the Face Off.

Anyways, the launch trailer for Gears of War 2 was released today. It can be described by several different words, but all of them have about the same meaning as "awesome". It's the best trailer I've seen all year. And it's the LAUNCH trailer. Launch is such a nice word. Gears 2 is so close. Here's the trailer:

So, now that I've almost completed Saint's Row 2, here are my views on the pros and cons of the game.
The Good.

1) The controls
The controls in Saint's Row 2 is really tight and responsive. I feel that these controls should be the benchmark for the controls of all open world games in the future. The weapon selection ring could have been improved, as it's difficult to quickly select the weapon you want in a fire fight, but the rest are really good. The new Cruise Control feature is really innovative. It allows you to have total control of your vehicle, as well as your weapon at the same time.

2) The story
It may not be able to compare to Grand Theft Auto IV's story, and the story becomes ridiculous at some points of the game, but it is pure B movie goodness. Some cutscenes are awesome, with perfect camera angles, narrative and action.

3) The voice acting
It's really good. The main character himself has six different voices to choose from [3 male, 3 female] and the NPCs also have good voice acting.

4) The customization
The customisation options are nearly endless, allowing you to even customise little things like the width of your character's jaw or skull. If you don't like the features of your character, you can always change them in the middle of the game by visiting a plastic surgeon.

5) The missions
Every mission is action packed, and Saint's Row 2 doesn't waste our time with boring following missions, where you have to get a car and follow your target all over the place before killing him. Saint's Row 2 just makes you do the killing. There was this mission where you have to enter a pagoda shaped hotel, plant bombs on the various floors, the once you've planted the final bomb on the top story, you leap over the corridor and free fall through the centre of the hotel, before finally opening your parachute and escaping.

6) The fun and humour
Other than being extremely fun to play, Saint's Row 2 also has a lot of humour in it. It has exaggerated physics, the characters have funny lines, and funny thing tend to randomly occur on the street. For example, if a normal person punches you, you will stagger back. But if some one who's pumped with steroids punches you, you will be flung back several meters. Also, the game allows you to make your entire gang dress up as ninja, and ninja are awesome.

7) The map
The map is really good. It clearly highlights which neighbourhood is being run by which gang through distinct colours, and it clearly details all the events you can take part in.

8) The TV
GTA IV allowed us to watch pre recorded television programmes in the TV within the game, but Saint's Row 2 has a more practical use for the TV. You can view all cutscenes you have unlocked so far, and you can play the video game "Zombie Uprising", where you and your team mates have to use weapons with limited ammo to fight off increasing hordes of zombies.

The Bad.

1) The Characters
None of them are memorable. You'll forget them very quickly. Some are really irritating and it's like the game wants you to hate them, although they are supposed to be your friends.

2) The A.I
I think this is the thing that prevented Saint's Row 2 from being really awesome. Enemies often just stand there waiting for you to put a bullet through their skulls. Friendly A.I is no different. Some times they are downright idiotic. I can't remember how many times I have been taken out by a RPG fired by my own team mate. And you constantly have to revive them as they have a tendency to run into the flaming wreckage of a car, set themselves on fire, and they'll knock themselves unconscious in the process.

3) The city
While the fictional city of Stillwater is definitely better than in the original Saint's Row, but it still isn't the same standard as Grand Theft Auto. GTA IV had a living, breathing city and it really gets you into the game. Saint's Row 2 tries to do this, but some how, the city still feels artificial.

4) Inconsistent difficulty
Some missions may be really easy, while others can get impossible without the help of NPCs. Usually, the first 3 or 4 missions of any gang is relatively easy, then the difficulty really increases in the next few missions. I'm not sure if this is the case for Easy mode, because I'm playing through the game on Medium difficulty.

5) Frame rate
The frame rate is smooth most of the time, but it does slow down when the action gets heavy. There were 2 cases when my game froze on me, despite the fact that there is a cooling fan attached to my Xbox. The only other game that ever froze up before Saint's Row 2 was Assassin's Creed.

6) The graphics
The graphics of Saint's Row 2 are decent, but they're not the kind of graphics you would expect on a PS3/360. The cutscenes have better graphics, but this is only the case for the main cutscenes. There are cutscenes showing the interior of certain buildings in the game, and those are really ugly.

7) The glitches
The game is full of them. Not as bad as other games like Mercenaries 2, but they're still there. NPCs get stuck in doorways, they get stuck in cars, they get stuck in pretty much everything.

Overall, I feel that Saint's Row 2 is a game that's worth buying. It has many flaws that prevents it from being a Grand Theft Auto standard of game, but it more than makes up for it by being the most fun game you've played so far.

Ok, I'm going to end of here. Good luck to everyone who's sitting for today's paper!! Ending off, see you tomorrow.

Hello. Today we had our Elective History paper. Which was freakin easy. They actually bothered to give us the 3 factors for the SEQ. You don't even have to remember the points. It's that easy. It's fine that they want to set easy O level papers, but do they really have to make it this easy? O level so far is easy to the point where I feel that it is a waste of time for me to even sit for the papers. Don't really have a choice though.

Anyways. Fallout 3 is out today. And Challenger doesn't have it yet. Damn it, I knew I should have pre-ordered it from Comics Connection instead. They probably have it by now. Challenger sucks.

So, now that Fallout 3's out and all, I've been reading the reviews. The game has an average score of 9.7/10 and there are no reviews giving it a score below 9.0 yet. I really can't wait to get it. Reviews for PS3 exclusive, Resistance 2, also dropped. I'm a little surprised by the reviews. Turns out that the game isn't bad after all. It has an average score of 9.5/10. Good for the PS3 owners.

Now that Fallout 3 is out, everyone's going to go nuts over the biggest game this year, Gears of War 2. It's out next Friday. I seriously cannot wait for it. Fallout 3's going to have strong competition for the title of Game of the Year 2008.

I don't really have much else to say, so I'm about to end this short post. Tomorrow is Sc[Physics] paper. It starts at 2pm. Remember all your formulas and remember to bring your protractor and calculator. Ok, ending off, see you tomorrow.

Hello. Today is deepavali in case you some how didn't know. I went visiting today, and I have indeed gotten richer. With the money I got today, I'll probably be able to get all the games on my wishlist. Yay. Oh, the wonderful scent of money.

I woke up early and my family went to my grandmother's house [my father's side] and then we just slacked and ate and watched TV until about 2pm. Oh, I also collected red packets.

After that, we went to my other grandparent's house [my mother's side]. On the way there, we dropped by Tiong Bahru Plaza because I wanted to get my copy of Spider-Man: Web of Shadows.

Well, bad news. Two pieces of bad news actually. For some reason, every single version of the game is out in Singapore, except the Xbox 360 version. It'll be out by the end of this week.

The other bad news. Due to many of the Guitar Hero: World Tour instruments not working, the game has been pushed back to an early November launch in Singapore. What the hell man.

Then we went to my grandparent's house and I got more red packets. I also slacked and stuff, but those aren't important. It's all about the money man.

We then went home and I counted all the money I received. This year's loot is pretty big, and it's even bigger for me since my grandfather just gave me his savings yesterday. I won't say the exact amount, but if I include it to my current savings, there'll be a 4 digit amount in the money box in my room.

Now that I've got so much [extra] money, I think I can spend it on some one. Friend, after O levels, we shall go to some place nice. It's been quite a while since we ate in a hotel. That'll be cool. You pick the place.

I think I'm going to get Farcry 2 tomorrow. The reviews for it have been mostly positive, so I'm going to buy it. Looks pretty fun. I want to play multiplayer. Story mode's fine, but multiplayer is what's going to keep me playing the game a year from now. In fact, who doesn't play multiplayer these days?

And yes, tomorrow is the day Fallout 3 drops. This game is probably going to be Game of the Year 2008. It's M18, so my father is going to collect my copy for me. Oblivion was one of the best games ever made, and Fallout 3 is almost like Oblivion, with the bonus of guns. Lots of them. I don't see how this game can possibly fail.

Yeah, I guess that's pretty much all for today. Tomorrow is Elective History paper, and it starts at 2pm. That means that you have to report in the T.K Low Hall by 1.30pm. Remember to bring your entry proof and pen refill just in case. Ok, I'm done. Ending off, see you tomorrow.

Hello. Tomorrow is like Deepavali. The day I become rich. No, actually, it should be something more like "The day I become even richer". Yeah, I like the way that sounds. Anyways, I tried studying Histoy today, but then I realised that there's no point studying because I pretty much know the facts, so I went to play Saint's Row 2 instead.

I played for 3 hours, then I put my new bedsheets onto my bed. They're something like the ones Friend and I saw at Raffles City the other time. Yeah, the monkey ones. I also bought this lamb one. They're actually for small kids but I bought them anyways. Here's a picture:

Then I went to use my computer for a while. Hmmm, for some reason, everyone seems to be in the flaming mood. Yahoo openly disses the PS3 [link] and the Resident Evil 5 insults the Wii with his "in-your-face" comment [link]. I've yet to see any recent ones for the 360 yet but if anyone finds one, feel free to tell me.

I'm going to pick up my copy of Spider-Man: Web of Shadows, and I'll upload a Opening and First 10 Minutes video soon.

It's not even Deepavali yet and I've already got gold. My grandfather gave me a bag of 50 cent and $1 coins. He has a piggy bank at his house and he puts the coins in everyday after work. Once the piggy bank is full, he'll give all the contents to one of this grandchildren. There are 7 of us, so we each take turns. It's my turn this time, and I can combo with Deepavali.

I just watched Gametailers TV, and they just announced that Call of Duty: World at War will have a 4 player co-op survival mode in which 4 players face off hordes of zombie Nazis. Sounds pretty awesome. Sure, it's insignificant compared to Gears of War 2's Horde mode, but it's still pretty decent.

Ok, I'm pretty much done for today. I got to play more Saint's Row 2. That game may have received lower review scores that Grand Theft Auto IV, but it's so much more fun. It's the way games are supposed to be. Mindless fun, exaggerated violence, over the top action. Not gloomy and too realistic. Anyways, I'm ending off now, see you tomorrow.

Hello. Man, today was tiring. My whole family went to Toa Payoh to get for my sister new clothes. Since my brother, my father and I weren't buying anything there, we just sort of sat around and waited.

After my mother and sister were done [damn, women take reaaaallly long to buy stuff], we went to Peninsular Plaza to buy shoes. I saw several Converse sneakers that had nice designs, but I couldn't get them since they were too small.

Every time I buy shoes, I have this problem, because my feet are really big. They're size 13. How many Singaporeans actually have feet that size? That's why most shoes stop at size 11. So I always have very little choices when it comes to buying shoes. I guess it kinda sucks. But then again, you know what they say about guys with big feet. They have big ____. Muahahaha.

In the end I bought a plain black pair of leather sneakers for $90. The price is pretty good. And it's made out of leather. I really like it. Here are some pictures of the shoes:

The size is the same as those clown shoes.
Yeah, they're huge.

After that I came home and played Saint's Row 2 for a while. Then my father asked me to help him wipe the walls [We're cleaning up for Deepavali Pay Day]. I did that and he said he'll buy me Spider-Man: Web of Shadows as a reward. I just wiped for half an hour and I'm going to get a game. I think I should clean the house more. Um, the windows look a bit dusty, let me wipe them for you.

After that I continued playing Saint's Row 2 until about 10.45pm. Then I went to my room and did this:

Yeah, I'm getting really pumped up for Gears of War 2. Nothing else to say, so I'm going to end off with this picture I found. It's pretty funny. Alrght, see you tomorrow.

Hello. Today I went X08. It's quite a good show. I was only there for an hour. There were plenty of games on display, including heavy hitters like Gears of War 2, Fallout 3, Mirror's Edge and Left 4 Dead.

The only problem I have with X08 is the age gates. In case you don't know, almost every AAA game is rated M18. This includes Gears of War 2 [I'm going on a rampage soon], Fallout 3 and Call of Duty: World of War.

My father helped me pre-order Gears of War 2 and Fallout 3. I also got some freebies. Ok enough talk, here's the pictures. Click to enlarge:

The main X08 stage. Electrico is going to be playing on it, and live demos of games will be shown on that big screen.
Sweet car.Closet rockers.I found Mirror's Edge!!Rock band. Probably on Hard mode.
Guitar Hero World Tour on Noob difficulty.
How did a plump guy, a cute girl and a bratty looking kid manage to get to play as a band? I dunno either.
Nice poster of Gears of War 2.
HELL YEAH ,booth babes!!
Full view the Gears of War 2 poster.
Spider-Man is alright, but Golden Axe sucks.
Logo of Gears of War 2 Naruto: Broken Bond.More closet rockers. My brother and the background.Stop looking at the bottom right of the picture. He's playing Tomb Raider Underworld.

Pictures of the freebies I got through the pre-orders:

Free Fallout 3 pouch.Another view of the pouch.Free Cog Tags.Close up view.
This is the card with the code for the Golden Hammerburst. The back of the card.

Pictures of the freebies I got at the show:

Guitar Hero World Tour poster.Star Wars: The Force Unleashed. I love the tagline.Xbox balloon.

Scans of a flyer I got from the event:

My pre-order slips for Gears 2 and Fallout 3:

Here's a video tour of the X08 by yours truly:

Ok, that's pretty much all. Overall, X08 is a pretty good event, and you should go there one of the days if you are interested in gaming. It's pretty cool. Ok, ending off, see you tomorrow.

Hello. I decided to start typing my post early today. We have Physical Geography paper later on, so there'll be no difference if I type the post now or later.

First things first. X08 is starting tomorrow, and it's happening throughout the weekend. Anyone going? Here's a link to the complete list of events: Click here

So whoever's going, just tell me. I'll be getting a few games while I'm there. I'll go tomorrow after the Maths paper, then I'll go again on Saturday to get my games, and I'll probably be there on Sunday as well to get my launch set of Guitar Hero World Tour.

Come on, just go with me. Gears of War 2 and Fallout 3 are on show, and that's a good enough reason to go already. If you need extra motivation, there's booth babes. I'm going to support Microsoft for supporting us. It's the only one of the big three that bothers to have a game show in our small, small country. Thanks.

Next. E3 is freakin back. E3 used to be awesome back in the day, but E3 2007 and E3 2008 became a business summit instead of a mega game show. It became from being the coolest to the lamest game show over the past two years. Next year, E3 will be open to the public once again. It's only opened 2 out of 3 days, but that's better than nothing. I feel excited about E3 again.

Wow, Grand Theft Auto IV scored more than Little Big Planet on Famitsu? That's surprising. I always thought the Japanese were more into games that use skill and creativity than story heavy games that are also heavy on action. I don't think I'll ever understand them.

Gears of War 2 is banned in Germany and Japan. That means it is confirmed M18. I am about to go on a rampage here. But I won't use any weapons. I'll just bite people and hope they bleed to death or get rabies or whatever.

Oh man, Spider-Man: Web of Shadows reviews just came in. It got mixed reviews. So far there are 4 reviews, and the scores are [out of 10]: 5.1, 5.6, 8.0, 8.5. Still buying it anyways.
Ok, I guess I'm done for today. Good luck for your Physical Geography papers. Ending off, see you tomorrow.

Hello. I shall not bore you with what I did today. You already know what I did. If you don't, look at those big pictures in the background. Tomorrow is Physical Geography, so there is nothing to study. I need to geek out a bit. Here I go.

Look at this, my game collection has really become huge. These are just my Xbox 360 games. I got my first game bundled with my Xbox in year end 2006, and now, about 2 years later, and after spending roughly $2500, my collection has gotten pretty big. And there's still 16 more games to get this year. Yay. Here are some pictures:

By end of this year, it's probably going to reach my hip.
2007's pile may seem almost as tall as 2008's, but keep in mind that the huge ass Halo 3 box is as thick as two regular game boxes.

Played Guitar Hero 3 a lot today. I feel that it is much easier to play with a big flat screen TV, probably because the gaps between the notes are larger. I recorded 3 songs, "Prayer of the Refugee" by Rise Against, the Halo theme song and Top Gun Anthem. I played all on Hard mode but it didn't do particularly well for anyone. Here are the videos:

Prayer of the Refugee

Halo theme song

Top Gun Anthem

I also played Fable 2, which is pretty awesome. I played single player for a while, then I played local co-op with my brother. Co-op is really fun. It's real drop in-drop out co-op [press start on the second player's controller at any time and you immediately bring up the co-op lobby, and when both players press the A button, the other player is teleported into the world].

Here's a first 15 minutes and opening video of the game:

Fable 2 Opening and First 15 Minutes

Nothing else to say. Ending off now, see you tomorrow.
