Hello. Ok, so today I got Gears of War 2. I woke up early an went with my family to IMM to collect my game. We had breakfast at...wait, why am I telling you this? I GOT GEARS OF WAR 2. Everything else isn't important. Even if i got kissed today, it wouldn't be important. Now that I mentioned it, I haven't been kissed for a really long time. Damn.
I got home and started playing the game with my brother. I wanted to play the game for 2 hours, then I wanted to use my computer, and maybe watch a movie. We started at 1.30pm. Now, it's 10pm, and I just turned off my Xbox half an hour ago. So much for playing for 2 hours.
Bottom line is, Gears 2 is freakin awesome. It's the best game I've played on the Xbox 360, and it's probably the best game to play this holiday season on any console. It's definitely bigger, badder and more badass than the original Gears of War. Gears of War was a great game, but it had a very small scale. Players moved around the map, engaging in small groups of enemies throughout the level.
Gears of War 2, on the other hand, throws players in huge, epic battles. Everything in the game is beautiful, and everything looks more vibrant since Gears 2 has a wide range of colours in its environments, compared to most current generation games which often only use grey, brown and black.
The blood is plentiful in this one. Take the chainsaw bayonet of your Lancer through some one, and your screen will be splattered with blood and gore. The curb stomp is also back; a move which allows you to finish off your enemy by stepping onto and crushing his head. There are also a variety of other finishing moves, but I won't spoil those for you.
Players can now also ride vehicles like the Centaur tank, Reavers and even Brumaks. Xbox 360 owners felt cheated when exclusive content, which featured a boss battle with a Brumak, only appeared in the PC version of Gears of War. But Gears 2 makes up for that because there are tons of Brumaks in the game waiting to be killed.
As for the gameplay itself, the campaign mode is awesome, and the multiplayer is even better than that. Here's one particularly unique level from the campaign.
Anything after this point might contain SPOILERS, so skip the next few paragraphs if you don't want to know what happens. I'll be writing this like a composition, but you actually get to play everything out:
Delta squad is in a helicopter escaping a huge craven filled with Locust. All of a sudden, a gigantic worm explodes out of the rubble, and it swallows Delta squads helicopter. Delta squad survives the crash, but now they're trapped inside the body of a giant worm. The Locust have been using this worm to sink entire cities, so Marcus decides to kill the worm before they escape it. So they decide to look for its heart.
Suddenly, they hear screaming, and they find Benjamin Carmine lying on the ground. His body is torn in half and he is close to death. Turns out the worm was infected by dog sized insects, and they aren't friendly. The insects that killed Carmine attack Delta squad, and Delta kills them. Suddenly, there is a rumbling sound, and Delta see a huge wall muscle and tissue moving towards them, crushing everything in its path.
Delta run out of there, firing and chainsawing through membranes of flesh that are in their way. When they finally escape, they find themselves in a room full of bulbs which are spraying out acid. They shoot the bulbs and the acid stops spraying long enough for them to pass through. They then enter a room full of poison gas. They run through the room and chainsaw through the flesh before they get suffocated. They they hear a loud beating.
Know that the heart was near, Delta proceeds through a few more rooms, killing the insects that attack them along the way. They finally reach the heart, and they chainsaw the two arteries attached to the heart. The worm doesn't flinch. They wonder why, but they soon find their answer. They hear more beating nearby.
So, it turns out the worm has another heart. Delta moves through a few more rooms and destroys it. This time, the worm feels it, but it's still not down. There's one more heart. Delta finds it, and starts chainsawing through its arteries. This heart has four arteries, and Delta has to move fast as the severed arteries were spewing out so much blood that it would drown them.
Finally, with the third heart stopped, the worm leaps out of the ground, shooting into the air [It's so big that it dwarfs the mountains in the background] before falling to the ground. Delta squad then chainsaws their way out of the worm. The four cuts they make cause a huge hole to emerge on the side of the worm, and blood, guts and Delta squad flow out.
Ok,
SPOILERS ARE OVER. You can continue reading from here.
Here are some pictures of the Limited Edition Gears of War 2 box and its contents content:
The box comes like that. What you're seeing is actually the outer casing of the box.
I don't think I'll be doing a opening and first 10 minutes video of Gears of War 2 because it can only be experience by you playing it yourself. It is pure awesome. Ok, ending off, see you tomorrow.
