Hello. I went out again this morning. I had my breakfast, then I went to some secret place for a while. I got back home by 1pm, just like yesterday. Yesterday I said that something that hasn't happened to me in a long time actually happened, and today, it happened some more. I am happy.Once I got back home, I played Rock Band and recorded some videos, one for guitar and one for bass. I didn't do a drums video because I'm hopeless at Rock Band drums, and no vocals for obvious reasons. I also did a Mirror's Edge video. Here they are:
I'm playing Rock Band guitar in this video. I played "Highway Star" by Deep Purple on Hard mode. It's an awesome song that's fun to play to, and it isn't that hard to play even though it's classified under "Impossible Songs". However, I only got 95% and that sucks. Still got 5 stars though:
Finally, this video is a play through of the first chapter in Mirror's Edge. It's a fun chapter that is easy, but it can feel pretty intense as well:
While I was playing all that, I was also downloading the Lord of the Rings: Conquest demo off Xbox Live. I honestly didn't expect much from it, but it turned out to be surprisingly fun. LotR: Conquest demo has both single player and multiplayer game modes.
The game is basically Dynasty Warriors with Lord of the Ring characters in it, just that it has better graphics, fight system and overall gameplay. In the actual game, you get to play both good and evil characters, but you only get to play as good guys.
You move around the map, fighting your way through hordes of orcs and other enemies, and you have to capture various control points. Eventually you'll face off against a enemy boss, and you get to use a LotR character, but for most of the game, you just play as one of four available classes. Each class has their own pros and cons.
The warrior is your all rounder; strong attacks, high health, easy to use. He wields a long sword and the sword can emit flames for more powerful attacks. He can also throw axes and other stuff at enemies. The warrior's flame attacks are visually awesome, and they can easily clear hordes of enemies.
The archer is a cool class to use. The arrows do not auto lock onto your target; instead you have to manually aim them before firing. It feels very satisfying to shoot down hordes of orcs even though they are just a few meters away from you. The archer has flame arrows, poison arrows, multi arrows, and he can throw bombs.
The scout is the most fun class I've played so far. The scout can become invisible, and he can take out the enemy in a single hit by doing a backstab attack. The scout is also the only class that can roll and dodge, and he can also attack while in mid air.
The mage is a support class that can play as an offensive and defensive class if there is a need. The mage can heal himself and his team, and he can create shields that block projectiles. He can use chain lightning, which jumps from one enemy to the next, and he can use a ground shock wave attack.
After I tried out all classes, Sauron appeared and I got to use Isildur, and he kicks ass. His attacks are nice to watch. There is one attack where he stabs the enemy so fast that multiple images of himself appear, and another where he splits into three images and each image attacks with a flame sword, creating a whirlwind.
The game is a great single player game, but it's multiplayer is what will really sell it. This is probably the first game of it's kind that actually does multiplayer. There is 16 player online multiplayer, with various different modes like team deathmatch and capture the flag.
Heroes were not available in the demo, so I just used the Scout class. It is so fun to cloak, hide in a corner, then backstab some one as the pass by. You can use evil characters in the demo, but I didn't get to use them yet. The game seems pretty fun, and I might just buy it, but first I need to ask other people for their opinions of the game.
After that I went to my cousin's school to fetch him, then I watched them play at the nearby playground for a while. I got back home and ate my dinner, then I started using my computer.
The latest Angry Video Game Nerd episode just went up early this morning. It's on Moonwalker, which is a Micheal Jackson based game. I haven't watched it yet, so I dunno if it's a good episode or not, but here it is anyway:
So now Consumer Electronics Show 2009 [CES 2009] is officially started, and there's been a lot of news going up onto the Internet for the whole of today. I'm still waiting to see if anything cool will be happening during this year's CES.
Last year, Bill Gates presented this cool video since he was retiring. It has cameos by a whole lot of famous people, including a certain Barrack Obama. For those who have never seen the video before, here it is:
I just watched a video on gametrailers.com. It's a presentation about this Xbox 360 exclusive game called Kudo. It's something like LittleBigPlanet, but unlike LBP, you don't just create levels in Kudo, you create ENTIRE GAMES. It looks kinda kiddy, but creating games is quite a big deal.
I also saw a video presentation on the Halo games coming out this year. Microsoft is really doing their "one year Gears of War one year Halo" plan. Whether these games will be good or not, that's a whole different story, but with possibly three Halo games coming out this year, Microsoft has already won everyone else in terms of sales. Some news from CES 2009:
-Microsoft Primetime channel will be coming to the Xbox 360 in Spring. Primetime channel is basically a channel which hosts scheduled social events, and real prizes can be won from these events. Events include game shows like 1-vs-100 and movie screenings. Gamers will use their avatars to represent themselves in such events.
-New Fallout 3 downloadable content [DLC] screenshots revealed. The DLC, which will be out this month, is titled Operation Ancorage, and it features a new snowy region, communists and an awesome ninja suit and katana. Bethesda also revealed that the max level will be raised to lvl 30 when another DLC, Broken Steel, is released in March. Both DLC packs cost 800 Microsoft Points [S$16]. Picture below:
-As of January 3rd 2009, 10 million people have played the Xbox 360 version of Call of Duty 4 online. Out of these 10 million, 71.1% have completed "F.N.G", 68.8% have completed "Cargo Ship", 46.5% have completed the game on any difficulty, and only 2.8% have completed "Mile High Club" on Veteran difficulty.
-As of January 3rd 2009, 10 million people have played the Xbox 360 version of Call of Duty 4 online, and about 5 million have played the PS3 version online, making COD4 the most played console shooter so far.
-Red Alert 3 expansion pack "Uprising" coming to PC in March, no date set for PS3 and Xbox 360 versions yet.
-Godfather 2 is set to be released on February 24th 2009 for PC, PS3 and 360. Pre-ordered copies will get a bonus character in the game which is much more powerful than other supporting characters.
-Fable 2 Knothole Island DLC pack coming on January 13th 2009 for 800 Microsoft Points [S$16]. A free title update will also be coming with the expansion. Knothole Island features new areas, outfits, quests, items, weapons, and enemies.
-It is rumoured that Disney might purchase Electronic Arts this year. As long as mature rated games keep coming from EA, I'm fine by that.
-Spore "Galactic Adventures" expansion pack coming in Spring, just one of the many expansion packs planned for Spore in 2009.
-The Skate 2 demo is already up on Xbox Live, will be coming to PSN on 15th January 2009.
-Halo Wars demo coming to Xbox Live on 5th February 2009, actual game will be in stores on 28th February 2009.
-Mad Catz announces their line of Street Fighter IV arcade style controllers, will launch around the same time as the game. Pictures below:
