Hello. I didn't do much today. But I had what was probably the first mature conversation in my life with a girl my age. You know, one of those where you listen and try and understand each others feelings. I am so proud of myself. Now that I've settled things, my mind can be at peace :D
My mom woke me up at 9am, and she told me that I had to look after the house since she was going to one of my
relatives funerals later on. Speaking of that, one of my relatives happened to have passed away yesterday. From cancer if I'm not wrong.
Ok, I know I'm supposed to be all sad and solemn about the whole thing, but I'll let you in on a secret: I'm not!! I'm not being evil or heartless or anything, it's just that I'm not close to the guy. In fact, I don't even know how he looks like, or what his name is.
So he's just like a stranger to me. I'm sure you won't just see some random funeral in some void deck and so there and start crying and all right? That's the problem of having such a big family [like more than 200 people, you think that's enough?]. I don't even know half of them. Blame it on the older generations for reproducing like hamsters.
So anyways, I called
Yan Ming and judging by his voice, he either woke up, or he got some near fatal wound inflicted onto him. I told him that I couldn't go out with him. Then I decided to have my mature phone call with
Yiling. I managed to settle things, and I finally got to hear her happy voice for the first time in a really long time. Brightened up my day :D
After that I went onto
Xbox Live and downloaded some tracks for Guitar Hero World Tour and Rock Band. I got the Fall Out Boy songs for Rock Band, which were surprisingly challenging, and the Travis Barker track pack, which was pretty easy, other than the insane drum difficulty. But then again, it
is Travis Barker, so you asked for it upon purchasing.
Then I played Burnout Paradise online for the first time ever, and the experience far exceeded my expectations. Anyone who has ever played a Burnout game will know how
exhilarating it can be to drive down the street at 200 mph, and the satisfaction of seeing your car get smashed.
In Burnout Paradise, you do all these in an open world environment, and you can take part in various events at every traffic junction. And this is the only racing game that actually encourages you to crash your car, because the slow motion car carnage that unfolds during a crash can only be described as sexy.
So, to summarise all the things I've been saying in the past two paragraphs, Burnout games kick ass. Burnout Paradise is one of the best games I have ever played. The only problem is, playing by yourself in the huge Paradise City can get boring at times. But not when you are playing online.
Of course there are the typical races and stunt runs, but there is a mode called
Freeburn, and it is
freakin awesome. What it does is basically take the fun you get from playing the game by yourself, and multiply it by seven, because it supports up to eight other players in each game.
It is fun to just drive around and crash into each other, and there are also times when more interesting things happen. For example, when I was playing just now, we were doing co-ordinated stunts, which is like everyone doing the same thing at the same time. It is so awesome to watch.
I honestly never expected to get this much fun out of a racing game. Normally when people think of a good time online, they think of shooter games, but I am tired of those. If game developers want to make racing games, make it like Burnout Paradise, or else forget it. I'm definitely going to spend more time online with Burnout Paradise tomorrow.
After that I watched
Naruto with my brother, then I used the computer for a while to read a few more chapters of Fairy Tail. I saw two pages that deserve special
acknowledgement. Here they are [Click to enlarge]:
Ok, no way those belong to a seventeen year old girl. But I don't mind them being there :D
OMG why is Lucy wearing a maid outfit?! More importantly, why did she take it off so quickly D:
Then I played more Burnout Paradise since I didn't feel like eating dinner, then I watched TV for a while, then I started typing this post. I had a conference call with Say Yin and
Yan Ming because we were discussing where we were going to look for jobs tomorrow.
Some news:
-The
Final Fantasy XIII
demo is hitting Japan on April 16 packaged with the
Blu-ray version of
Advent Children Complete. No plans for any overseas release yet. Sony will commemorate the release with a new 160GB PlayStation 3 bundle for US$550 that includes the movie, demo and specially marked console seen below:

-Resident Evil 5 demo will be out on
Xbox Live on 26
th of January 2009,
Playstation Network on 2
nd of February 2009. The demo features two levels that can be played solo,
splitscreen or online co-op. Hell yeah.
-A recent study shows that violence in video games don't make games more enjoyable. According to a study conducted on 2670 frequent gamers, 95% claimed that "violent content didn't add to motivation for play."
-Guitar Hero
Metallica will come with a free drum bass pedal if you
pre-order it from US game retailer
Gamestop. We all know the speed with which Mr. Ulrich is capable of producing percussion, so an extra bass pedal will be more than welcome. If only Singapore game retailers did the same.
-Sony refuses the use of the
Playstation brand for the "
PSP Phone", so it's
development has been stalled, and it might be cancelled. Probably for the better.
-Child's Play Charity organisation, a US based organisation set up by gamers to collect money for charity, collected a total of US$1.5 million for charity. Great job guys.
-Nintendo claims that December
Wii sales were lower than
Xbox 360 sales due to shortage for
Wii consoles.
-Amazon.com now has a special offer for
Xbox Live memberships. 13 months of
Xbox Live Gold is going for US$30. That is definitely way cheaper than Singapore's price of $88 for 13 months.
-It is rumoured that a Mass Effect 2 disc re-release is on the way. It will come with the
Mass Effect game disc, but the second disc will come packed with a documentary, design galleries, game trailers, music and the "Bring Down the Sky"
downloadable content expansion. All these for US$20. I'm not too sure about the price, but it will be awesome if it really happened.
Ok, I'm going to watch American Pie 2 now. I'm going to watch everyone of them. I already watched the first on last night, so now it's time for the second one. I can't sleep too late either because I need to get up early tomorrow.
Ok, ending off, see you tomorrow.
