Hello. Went job hunting today. Since Yan Ming already got contacted by Pepper Lunch, Say Yin and I decided to look for a job at Suntec City as well. I was trying so hard to find a game store as well, because there are close to none in the area. More on that later on.
The topic of today is:

I honestly hate them. Too bad they occupy 99% of game stores in Singapore. Most local gamers do not know much about new game releases and stuff. They usually have no idea what games the new year has to offer, until the games actually hit the store shelves. It's fine if you are one of these people. Not everyone can be me.
So when you don't know what a game is actually about, you tend to look at the box for information. Many people ask the game store staff for advice. And that's where everything goes horribly wrong. Sorry to be the bringer of bad news, but most game store owners and staff know probably just a little more than you do.
I'm a avid gamer, and to be an avid gamer, I'm constantly in search for new games. I buy my games from a variety of shops, so I've gotten a chance to talk to several people working at these various stores. Out of the tens of stores that I've been to, only the owner of AMK Hub's Funz Centre knows his stuff.
When I say that someone knows his stuff about gaming, I mean that he can tell an honest opinion of a game, or he can explain what a game is about and know its release date by memory alone. Is it so hard for game store owners and staff to just play a game by themselves, so that they will at least know which games to recommend?
Clueless game store owners and staff are bad enough, but it is way too much when one of them talks to you like you are stupid. This has happened to me a lot of times. There was this one time when I asked this guy for Naruto: Rise of a Ninja, because it was already out in the US, but not here in Singapore, and he was like "There is no such thing as a Naruto game for Xbox 360." Oh really, that's pretty interesting because I happen to have two of them now you ****tard.
Then I went to G3 today to ask for Oblivion. And what happened? The guy tells me that it is a PS3 exclusive. I tell him that it is on the Xbox 360 as well and he gets all smart ass and says that it isn't. Yeah, this picture is probably a fake too:

Now I know why the local gaming scene is so ****ed. Even the people who are selling us the games don't know anything, let alone most of the people who buy games from them. I bet that if I go to work at any Singapore game store right now, my gaming knowledge is going to be surpassing all of the staffs' accumulated together.
We should do what the Americans do, have REAL GAMERS run game stores. That's how it should be in the first place.

I went to the City Hall area today with Say Yin and Yan Ming. After having our brunch at Marina Square, we went to Suntec City because Say Yin and I wanted to search for a job. We went to a clothing shop, then to Popular, but we had no luck at these two places.
Eventually we found job vacancies at Toys R Us. Both me and Say Yin applied, but Say Yin got a phone call later on because he got the Pepper Lunch job, so he wouldn't be needing the Toy R Us one. I don't know if I will be able to get the job or not, but it is quite a slack job.
The Toys R Us is huge, but there is hardly anyone who goes there during the weekdays. So I just have to slack in the air con. I can also play with the lightsabers from time to time. The only problem will have is the kids. I don't really like kids, and I'm looking for work at Toys r Us. Wow.
We went to play at the arcade, then we met Sebastian and Angie. After eating, we walked around for a while and Yan Ming had to go report for work. We walked some more, then Angie said I looked like Nicholas Tse [Is that the right guy? I'm not too sure...]. I don't really see the resemblance, but apparently he looks nice and he has a ton of female fans, so thanks for the compliment :D
Once I got back to Tiong Bahru Plaza, I went to Challenger to buy Skate 2 and Lord of the Rings Conquest. If you are interested in any Electronic Arts game, I'd advise you to head over to Challenger to get it. The EA "$20 off next purchase" is still on island wide, but in Challenger, it is $28 off the next purchase.
Just get any two EA games at Challenger, pay the full price for the first on, then get the second one at almost 50% off. That's what I did. Lord of the Rings Conquest for $65, and Skate 2 for
$37. I have never ever bought a game within a week from launch at that low a price, but it's nothing to complain about.
Look out for this sticker when buying games these days. The promotion is available at most stores until the 9th of February.
The latest two games to join my every growing collection :DPhotos I took today:
Okay, the world is officially screwed.
The Popular in Suntec is cool. Not only is it the biggest in Singapore, it has like four shelves full of comics.
This is the actual height of an official NBA net. If Yan Ming made a clone of himself, and he got the clone to stand on his shoulders, then maybe he could reach the hoop.
Nerf sniper rifle. Buy this and...
...this Nerf auto turret for me, and I will love you forever :D
The box of the Nerf turret. As you can see, it is "The largest full auto Nerf blaster". Too awesome.
Drum mania at the arcade. The pads are positioned like an actual drum set up.
You don't actually have to pay to play these basketball machines, because you can just squeeze the balls out of the cage.
Say Yin and Yan Ming watching an awesome CG cutscene of Tekken 6.
They are still stoning there even though the title screen has already appeared.
This statue of Darth Vader is supposed to look intimidating, but it just looks to me like Vader tripped over his cape, and he is falling down a flight of stairs.I think I really like my hair as it is right now. It's short, but that's fine with me. I've been experiencing several beneficial changes in my attitude towards certain things, and these only started happening after I got my hair cut. I need to cut my hair like this again before poly starts :D Ok, I'm done for today. Thanks for reading. Ending off, see you tomorrow.
