Hello. The topic for today is:

Yesterday I talked about 5 things I liked about the Watchmen movie, so now I'm going to talk about
3 things I didn't like. Why 3 and not 5? Well, there really isn't that much to hate about the movie, and I'm too lazy to write about 5 anyways.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
STORY EDITS AND CUTS
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The Watchmen series has an amazingly deep and engaging storyline, and this storyline is used for the movie. So what's there not to like? While the main points of the story are there in the movie, many of the minor details are cut out.
Too bad that it's these minor details that makes the comic books better than the movie.
I initially thought that these could be ignored, but as the movie progressed, I started to realise just how much stuff had been cut out or edited. The original movie length was close to 4 hours, but it was cut down to 2 hr 40 mins. Still, I feel that they should have just stuck to the original.
These cuts and edits may not seem like that big a deal, but they are. For example, in the movie, when Rorschach meets his psychologist in the prison, he tells the doctor everything during their first visit. In the comic, he gradually reveals his past through three different meetings.
In the movie, the doctor is the same before and after his meeting with Rorschach. In the comic, he starts out confident that he can change Rorschach, but he eventually loses hope and his own personality becomes as grim as Rorschach's.
Another thing I'm not too happy with is the omission of "Tales of the Black Freighter" in the movie. It's a short comic series within the Watchmen series itself. While some might skip those portions, and some might even find it irritating, it is actually a really interesting story that mirrors how humanity is gradually inching closer to insanity.
Thankfully, the uncut version will be released on DVD and Blu Ray in a month's time, and this version will have extra scenes, as well as "Tales of the Black Freighter" included in it.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
EXCESSIVE VIOLENCE AND SWEARING
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Alright, it's not that I have a big problem with these or anything, but I feel that the unnecessary inclusion of excessive violence and swearing just makes Watchman more like a dumb action flick than the complex and clever movie that it is supposed to be.
Anyone can understand explosions and destruction, but not all will be able to understand a complex storyline.
In the comics, there isn't a single mention of the F word, but it is used quite plentifully in the movie. I can understand that a violent character like the Comedian might use such words, but when some one like Silk Spectre uses it about three times, you know its being used too much.
Also, what's with the violence man? Some of the stuff that happens is pretty damn sick. Violence is present in the comic too, but not as much as in the movie. The breaking of bones is fine by me, but did they really have to show Rorschach splitting some guy's head in half with a cleaver?
Or the scene where a thug uses a circular saw to saw off his friend's hands in order to get through Rorschach's cell? As the say goes through the guy's hands, the camera focuses on it so that you can see the saw go through flesh, muscle and bone.
It would be fine if those things actually happened in the comic, but they didn't. They were just added in to make the movie more interesting. I don't think that those scenes were needed since the storyline is compelling enough by itself. Also, it almost feels wrong to watch things like that happen.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
DEATH OF RORSCHACH
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Yeah, I already knew that it would happen, and I can't really blame the movie for being true to the happenings of the comic, but seriously, why the **** did they have to kill of Rorschach. Kill of Nite Owl or something. Not Rorschach.
I've read the comic four times, and it still sucks to read the part where Rorschach dies. The impact is even greater when you watch him die on the big screen. Rorschach is my favourite comic book character because he has a crappy life, so you can sympathize with him, and also he is the only character who will "never compromise, never surrender". And he is also a badass.
And they killed him off. **** it. If there is one thing I have to hate about the Watchmen series, it's the fact that Rorschach dies. Damn, I would rather everyone that appears in the movie die than just Rorschach dying.
===============================================================================

I went to buy clothes today :D I took a bus to Central with my mother, and I bought a shirt and a polo tee from Freshbox. They are having store wide discounts now, with clothes normally priced at $40 selling for $25.

After that we went to Vivocity to get more clothes. I got two T-shirts, one bermudas shorts, and a jacket at I.P Zone. The shorts was kinda expensive, but the jacket and T-shirts were all on offer. Then I went to Baleno and I got another polo tee, a black cargo pants and a jeans. Everything I got here was on 50% discount.

I still have about $200 left from my budget, so I'll be going to get more stuff tomorrow. I'm actually amazing myself that I can actually budget and go for discounted stuff. If I had bought everything at their usual price, I would have nearly gone over budget by now.
I got home and tried out the clothes. First of all, you should know that most of these clothes aren't black. My mother says that I need to wear more colours other than black, so yeah. I find the polo tee from Baleno and the bermudas from I.P Zone very comfortable.
I also like wearing the cargo pants and the black shirt together because it looks like what Corey Taylor from Slipknot wears in their All Hope is Gone album.
Anyways, now I just hope that we are allowed to wear shorts to TP, but from what I've seen so far, they don't seem to have any problems with shorts.
Now I've almost got everything that I wanted, now I just need a few more berms, a pair of sports shoes, a pair of slippers, and a bag. Tomorrow.
I went out for a while after that. I just realised that The Red Jumpsuit Apparatus performed today here in Singapore. I feel a bit disappointed that I didn't go to the concert. Not because I want to watch RJA, but because I want to watch A Vacant Affair, who are opening for the concert.
Actually, I don't think I'm that disappointed. The only bands I would ever pay to watch is Bullet for my Valentine and Slipknot. Bullet for my Valentine because they actually make good metal music, and Slipknot because everything else is crap compared to them.
Ok, I'm done for today. Thanks for reading. [KOAS KW!!] Ending off, see you tomorrow.
